Matterport 3D Virtual Reality Tours

Matterport 3D Virtual Reality Tours

Barrie Fisher Photo 360 is a complete 3D representation of a space, which lets you “walk” through the space to experience it as if you were there.
It can be used to market real estate, vacation rentals, interior designers, clothing designers, events, weddings, family reunions, sports teams, interiors of boats, RV’s, Cars, or to capture the contents of a building/home for accurate insurance adjustment.

We create 3D Tours using the state-of-the-art technology, called Matterport. For real estate, your prospective clients can easily access properties as if they were there in person, having the freedom to explore at their leisure from the comfort of their own computer, tablet or smartphone. Anybody can interact with the 3D Showcases anywhere 24/7, with just a browser.

3D Matterport Tours technology transforms the way buyers and sellers experience real estate online and provide more exposure to brokers, agents, and builders alike, in an effort to increase their sales potential.

Our company is positioned as completely distinct from, and an advancement beyond, traditional photography and virtual tour service providers. Image galleries, 360 still panoramas and fly-through videos lack the perspective and “feel” that home buyers and sellers crave. The more interactive the tour is, your client has the ability to navigate on their own, unlike a video. The more “clicking” on any website, the better the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) becomes.

There are three options for viewing the house: floor plan, doll house and virtual walk through.

Floor plan View:

The floor plan view allows the buyers to see the measurements and better grasp the concept of space in the rooms, with the added benefit of the inclusion of furniture. This feature reinforces the ability for the buyer to determine if certain rooms are too big or small.

Doll house View:

The dollhouse view is a 3D version of the floor plan that allows potential buyers to see the flow of the house from all angles. This allows the buyers an opportunity to step back and view the house from a distance – but with the walls still up, encourages them to visualize the available space within each room. The 3D concept is a more realistic view and allows the buyer to easily and effectively determine whether the space meets his or her needs and desires.

3D Walk through:

The 3D walk through allows you to view every inch of the home in glorious HD 360-degree fashion. You can smoothly glide from the entryway, through the living room and into the kitchen. Even moving up or down stairways is as simple as clicking through. Viewers can virtually walk through the home on their computer or mobile device.

Hosting Fees

3D Showcase Tours are hosted on the Cloud. For clients with an inventory of tours, a nominal yearly fee is required that is billed annually on the date of publishing the first tour within the brackets below:

1 Tour – 99.00 year

How long does it take to create a tour?

It takes about 1 hour per 1,000 square feet. It will take longer if people or pets are present during scanning and are constantly entering the view of the camera.

How is the tour created?

Our 3D camera is placed in multiple positions throughout the space. In each position, a camera body holding nine individual lenses (6 HDRs and 3 infrared) rotates with its built-in motor to gather data in 360 degrees. The data is then uploaded into the cloud for processing. It typically takes 24 hours for the data to be processed into a Model. The Model is then available to be shared online with a web link or embedded directly into a website.

What do I need to do before the appointment?

Please have the space cleaned and de-cluttered before your appointment. It should be staged and in “open-house’ condition. The camera will see everything and it cannot be taken out later.

Can my family or agent be present during the shoot?

People pets, small children and other potentially moving persons or objects should be removed from the interior of the area to be scanned or placed in a separate closed off room. The family or a representative may be present during filming, but they must remain out of view of the camera and any windows and mirrors. In the absence of specific prior instructions, we will use our professional opinion and discretion to compose, stage and create the finished product.

Do you shoot every room?

We shoot all interior spaces with the exception of small closets (such as a linen closet or pantry). The doors to all rooms to be scanned must be open when we begin. Garages are typically not scanned unless requested in advance. Generally if a human can walk into the area (such as a master closet), we include it. If there is a sensitive area, you may elect to not include it. However, this will mean the layout and floor plan views are not truly representative of the property.

How fast do you deliver?

Your 3D Showcase will usually be available within 24-36 hours for you to start showing.

How do I embed a 3D Showcase Virtual Tour into a website?

Embedding a model is very straightforward: it’s similar to embedding a YouTube video. We will provide you with the code to cut and paste. You can also use a standard HTML link on websites, in emails and anywhere else web links are used.

Which browsers, tablets and smartphones are compatible?

The 3D Showcases created by Barrie Fisher Photo 360 use WebGL, the modern standard for 3D content on the web. On desktop computers, WebGL is supported by the latest version of Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Internet Explorer. On mobile devices, WebGL is supported by Safari for iOS 8 and Chrome for Android. The tours look amazing on an iPad.

Can I import a 3D Showcase Model into CAD software?

Yes. We can provide you with an industry-standard OBJ file, which will contain both the 3D mesh and textures. There is no extra charge for this.

Can I create traditional floor plans from my models?

Yes, we can use the 3D Showcase Model as a template to create a traditional black and white floor plan for you at an additional cost (Please contact us for details). This floor plan does not have to be hosted in the cloud. It does take a few extra business days for this service than our usual 24 hour turnaround.

How long is my Tour available?

3D Showcase Virtual Tours require an enormous amount of data which is stored in the cloud on the camera maker’s servers. The first six months is complimentary. After that, there is a hosting fee, from the date that your 3D Showcase goes online.

Can I host it on my site or put my own branding on the videos?

No. All models must be hosted on the cloud servers. The text that appears when the model is loaded may be customized, such as “123 Main Street” or “The Pitcher Inn – Warren, Vermont”

Is my 3D Showcase Virtual Tour public or private?

3D Showcases, images and any other video created will be publicly available on the internet throughout the world and can be indexed by search engines. Any personal items, such as family photos, expensive artwork, jewelry or other personal property that you do not want to be seen by the public should be removed from view prior to the shoot.

What if the weather is bad on the day of my appointment?

We use High-Dynamic-Range Imaging (HDR) which allow the cameras to adjust to changes in light so both light and dark areas can be captured at the same time. This means that a space is good for scanning even on cloudy days. As long as there is interior lighting, the finished project will look as good, if not better, as a model created on a sunny day.

Can you scan my backyard, garden, pool or outdoor concert venue?

The 3D Camera is designed for indoor use, (though there are exceptions for photographing the exterior, depending on the lighting. Schedule time will be limited to dusk or dawn time) Direct sunlight can interfere with data collection. You will be able to see through windows in our traditional service and view parts of the backyard or patio areas, but you will not be able to “walk through” them.

Can you “Photoshop” the Walk Through video?

No, we cannot retouch things out after the shoot or modify the color (darken or lighten). Whatever is in the spaces at the time of the shoot is what it will look like in the final product. Please note we do our best to avoid the camera showing up in mirrors or as a reflection in glass windows, it’s not always possible to avoid it in very tight spaces that have wall-to-wall mirrors.

Why do I sometimes see a small blur when panning down?

As a viewer walks through the finished 3D Showcase, they may see a very small blurred area in the middle of the scan if they pan all the way down to the bottom. The blur is created by the camera to block the legs of the tripod from view. We cannot remove it.

Why do some areas on my model have “black holes” when I am looking at the doll house or floor plan view?

Some areas may show as “black areas” on the final doll house or floor plan view (but not in the walk through view). This is normal, as these are areas the scanner cannot see and a human cannot see when walking through (such as inside a column, behind a chair in the corner or inside a small closet). Small non walk-in closets and very small storage spaces, pantries, residential garages and attics are not typically included in the scans.

Travel Fees – To be discussed. Travel exceeding 250 miles may alternately include reimbursement for airfare, hotel and rental car, with client approval.
